    • Annotation of the Higher Education Institution The aim of the degree course is to provide knowledge about the function, structures and working methods of the library and information sector and to acquire practical skills for organising knowledge and information processes. The profile is oriented towards professional practice and combines practical issues with scientific methods. Students acquire these skills in the mix of face-to-face teaching, virtual teaching and self-study individually and together with others. As a degree course at the Humboldt University of Berlin, the subject of Library and Information Science also enables you participate independently in research and development projects early on. The degree course promotes internationalised knowledge through studies abroad and cooperation with practice partners and training institutions in European and non-European countries.
      Successful completion of the degree course qualifies you for employment opportunities in libraries and information facilities in both the academic and public sector, information services of research institutions and companies up to and including the content industry and other research-intensive fields of private enterprise such as publishing houses, the media industry, software companies, etc.
