    • Target group The course is aimed at graduates with a first professional degree in Degree programmes in the field of Romance Linguistics and Literature or one that is equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in the amount of 180 credits and subject-related study at a university or equivalent higher education institution in Germany or abroad.

    • Annotation of the Higher Education Institution Features: The design of the course allows students to focus either on a more classical form of Romance Studies in the 'Romance Studies' profile, or to focus on a central area of the Romance-speaking world in regional profiles 'Latin American Studies' and 'Mediterranean Studies', and to integrate the inter-disciplinary complexity of this area into their Romance Studies course as an optional required area. For the MA, it is a requirement to spend at least 6 weeks participating in a work placement relevant to the subject or 1 semester studying abroad.

    • A subject-related requirement is evidence of pass/fail courses in a Romance Studies sub-discipline worth 60 credit points and a final grade of at least "good". Furthermore, different language skills are required depending on the choice of course profile.
      a) Course profile "Romance Studies": Latinum (Latin proficiency certificate), one Romance language level B2, one other Romance language level A2,
      b) Course profile "Latin American Studies": Spanish proficiency level B2, English proficiency level B1 and proficiency in another Romance language (Portuguese or French) level A2,
      c) Course profile "Mediterranean Studies": proficiency in one Romance language level B2, English B1, another Romance language A2 as well as basic proficiency in Latin.
      Foreign students are required to provide evidence of German proficiency at the level of a “German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education for Foreign Students” (DSH) test (stage 2), a “Test of German as a Foreign Language” (TestDaF) (TDN 4) or a recognised equivalent.
